Literacy Camp (17 November to 19 December 2008) Download brochure English page 1, page 2 Download brochure Bahasa page 1, page 2 Download brochure Chinese page 1, page 2 BOLD is organizing a 5 week Literacy Camp from 17 November to 19 December 2008 for pre-Standard 1 and Standard 1 children (6 – 8 years old) with Dyslexia or having difficulties learning to read in Bahasa Malaysia and Chinese. Helping Dyslexic Children to Read Dyslexia is a Specific Learning Difficulty, unlike being ‘mentally slow’ or global developmental delay that affects all aspects of development; Dyslexia affects the reading and writing ability of the child. Studies show that approximately 10-15% of school going children experience mild difficulties while about 4% may have severe problems. We cannot ‘cure’ Dyslexia; however, suitable teaching methods can help Dyslexic children overcoming their difficulties. With proper help, most Dyslexic children can learn to read and write adequately. Since 2004, BOLD has been conducting literacy remediation teaching classes for Dyslexic children aged 6-8. Literacy Camp during school holiday This literacy programme is suitable for Dyslexic children or children with no apparent impairment, able to speak but having difficulty reading/reciting words from text books in preschool or Standard 1. Classes will be conducted in small groups or one-to-one teaching according to need. Prior to enrolment, all participants must go through an assessment to establish whether they will benefit from the program. Assessments will be conducted between 20 and 31 Ocotber, please contact BOLD to make an appointment. Camp fee is RM250 (1 language, material included). Fees will be collected after assessment. Closing Date for registration is 31 October 2008. Please contact BOLD for registration or enquiries.
